Cooperating Raleigh Colleges

Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (CRC) is a consortium of six colleges and universities in Raleigh and Wake County that allows students to study and experience campus life at different institutions of higher learning without having to transfer. The consortium includes Wake Tech, Meredith College, North Carolina State University, Saint Augustine's University, Shaw University and William Peace University.

Each institution offers unique courses and programs that can enhance the college experience for any student. This includes technical, career, military science, performing arts, foreign languages and many other courses. Full-time students at these schools can elect to take courses at any other CRC institution – it's easy, and students simply pay tuition and fees to their home institution.

Registration procedures at each institution may vary.

For more information on participating in Cooperating Raleigh Colleges at Wake Tech, email [email protected] or call 919-866-5786.

CRC registration checklist for visiting students

Go to Self-Service and click on the "View For-Credit Courses" button under Prospective Student.

  • Follow the steps on the Visiting Student Admissions page on the Wake Tech website. Begin by completing the North Carolina Residency Determination Service application, if needed, and the Wake Tech application. It is important that you enter "Visiting Student" (T90990) as your program of study/major and enter your Residency Certification Number on your application.
  • Complete the CRC application form with the help of the Registrar's Office at your home institution and submit it there, not to Wake Tech. Your institution will then forward your CRC application to the Registrar's Office at Wake Tech. You will be notified via email of any updates regarding your CRC application.
  • If there are prerequisite requirements for your courses, you will need to send a copy of your unofficial transcript to [email protected]. You will not be registered until prerequisites are approved.
  • Download the CRC registration checklist for visiting students linked above for step-by-step instructions to assist you with signing up for CRC at Wake Tech.

You must contact the Registrar's Office at your home institution. They will ask Wake Tech to remove your name from the course roster. Please do not withdraw from the course.

Yes, you may take online courses. But CRC courses are available only during the Fall or Spring semesters. If you are interested in taking Summer courses at Wake Tech, you must apply as a visiting student in the traditional way.

You will not be charged tuition at Wake Tech. You will pay for tuition at your home institution. However, you will be responsible for any special fees (lab fees, art fees, etc.) and any books or supplies required for the CRC course. These expenses are not covered by financial aid.

Once you are enrolled, do not register yourself for classes. The Registrar's Office at Wake Tech will manually register you for the course(s) for which you have been approved. You may be held financially responsible for any course you register for on your own for which do not have approval.

Registering for a CRC course at Wake Tech will entitle you to a parking decal and a student ID card at no cost to you.
