Visiting Student Registration

Welcome to Wake Tech! We're glad to have you here while you take classes to transfer back to your home institution, apply for a graduate program or study a subject for your own enrichment.

If you are interested in earning a degree or credential at Wake Tech, please meet with an academic advisor.

Visiting Student registration for Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 opens at 7 a.m. April 22. Please follow all the steps on the Visiting Student Admissions page to make sure you're ready.

If you haven't already, apply for admission to Wake Tech and submit all of your official transcripts and test scores. The Admissions Office will determine your math and English placement, and the Transfer Credit team will award your transfer credit. Your placement and credit will determine which classes you're eligible to take at Wake Tech.

For more information, email [email protected] or call 919-866-5700.

Frequently asked questions

Check Self-Service to see what courses are available. You can use filters to search for specific courses, campuses, times and delivery methods.

Course descriptions in Self-Service include details on "Requisites." If there are pre- or co-requisites listed there, you will need to meet those requirements to take the course.

  • Developmental-level prerequisites begin with a 0. For example, a course prerequisite may be ENG-025 or MAT-045. If your unweighted high school GPA was a 2.8 or higher, or you have already earned an associate or bachelor's degree, you have met these prerequisites.
  • College-level prerequisites begin with a 1 or a 2. For example, a course prerequisite may be ENG-111 or MAT-271. To see if you've met college-level prerequisites, check your unofficial Wake Tech transcript. Any credit awarded from standardized exams or courses you took at another institution will be at the top, followed by any Wake Tech courses you've already taken. If you've got the requisite credit on that transcript, you're all set.
  • If you were expecting transfer or test credit and don't see any, make sure you've submitted your official transcripts and score reports.

Email [email protected] if you have any questions about meeting course requisites.

Submit your official transcript to Wake Tech as part of the admissions process. Once you've been admitted, email [email protected] to see if you are eligible for a registration waiver to enroll in the next course in the sequence.

The prerequisites at Wake Tech may be different than the prerequisites at your home institution. Check the course you want to take in Self-Service. If there are pre- or co-requisites listed in the "Requisites" section of the course, you will need to meet those requirements to take it at Wake Tech.

Please submit your official AP Score Report to Wake Tech so we can award your credit. We cannot award AP credit based off another institution's transcript or an unofficial "Student Score Report" provided by the College Board.

Check the registration schedule.

After you've completed your Wake Tech course, wait for your final grade to post before ordering an official Wake Tech transcript. Send that transcript directly to your home institution to notify them.

It's a good idea to check with your home institution before you enroll in any classes to make sure you know what transfer credit you'll earn.

Check the location information for each course you're considering. If the location says "Online with In-Person Tests," you will need to be on campus to take exams.

If a class is full, please join the waitlist. We are not able to add you to a full class.

Please ask the Foreign Language Department chair at your home institution to send an official letter to Melania Aguirre-Rabon, Foreign Language & Fine Arts Department head at Wake Tech, at [email protected]. This letter should include your name, your placement test score, the date you took the test and the course you're eligible to take at your home institution. Professor Aguirre-Rabon will determine your appropriate foreign language placement at Wake Tech.

Meet with your academic advisor at your home institution to make a plan for what to take at Wake Tech. They can give you information on how Wake Tech credit will transfer to that institution to make sure you're on the right track.
