Mort Congleton, Wake Tech's Vice President of Development and Executive Director of the Wake Tech Foundation, has been named president-elect of the Board of Directors of the. Council for Resource Development (CRD) in Washington, D.C. CRD supports more than 700 community colleges across the U.S. by developing leaders through education, advocacy, and mentoring.

Let the games begin! Wake Tech welcomed the sights and sounds of college sports to campus this week for the first time in its 50-year history. The college renovated its Early Childhood Education Building on Main Campus, adding a physical education wing that includes a 17,000-square-foot gymnasium.

Robert "Butch" Grove, Wake Tech's Dean of Sustainability, has received his professional certification in Campus Sustainability Leadership from the Institute for Global Sustainability at the University of Vermont. Grove successfully completed the nationally-recognized program in July.

Wake Tech Community College is pleased to announce grant funding awards of more than $2.5 million in the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Educational institutions often rely on grant awards to expand programs and services beyond what regular operating budgets allow.

Chris Wheeler, Director of Network Services in Wake Tech's Information Technology Services Division, has been recognized for his work as a member of the Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) Advisory Board at Apex High School. With the support of the National Academy Foundation (NAF), AOIT partners educators and business people to help introduce students to the world of business.

Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Tech Community College, announced today that the college has received an unprecedented financial gift. The late Harold and Shirley Brenner, of Cary, bequeathed a gift of $500,000 to the Wake Tech Foundation - the largest individual cash donation in the history of the college.

The Board of Directors of the Wake Tech Foundation welcomed local business leaders Douglas Baker, Douglas Boyd, Adrienne Cole, Patrick Lindsey, and NC Representative Tom Murry, to its ranks. They were selected based on their passion and commitment to Wake Tech.
