In partnership with Wake County, Wake Tech offers a 33-week course that will put you on the pathway to a career of fighting fires and protecting area residents in less than a year. No experience is required of applicants, and the following certifications are available:

Wake Tech trains fire and rescue personnel throughout Wake County and surrounding counties. The Fire Services program is designed to provide full-time and volunteer fire departments with the opportunity to gain knowledge, practical skills and certification in the following:
A range of specialty classes, based on both departmental needs and new training standards, is offered throughout the year.
Classes are held at the Public Safety Education Campus and at individual fire departments. Training help within local fire departments enables personnel to develop and enhance skill levels with the equipment they use in controlling fires.
Any member of a North Carolina fire department, rescue squad, EMS or emergency services agency may attend as a fee-waived student. Classes offered can lead to Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification by the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal.
