Intended Audience
Individuals interested in basic drywall, finishing and repair of drywall.
Description
A one-day training course that is designed to focus on basic drywall installation. Students will learn to measure, cut, hang and install sheetrock on pre-built wood stud mockups.
Course Objectives
  1. Students will receive hands-on training for drywall installation. They will learn how to measure, cut to install and finish drywall. Students will learn how to use specific tools such as rot-zips and drywall screw guns.
Outline of Instruction
  1. 1) Safe use of tools associated with drywall work
    2) Inspecting framing for “square”, installing nailers
    3) Measuring and cutting drywall sheets
    4) Measuring and cutting outlet boxes with rot-zip
    5) Hanging drywall using both screws and nails, using code approved nail and screw patterns
    6) Mixing and preparing mud
    7) Bedding seams and joints and applying tape
    8) Mudding joints, seams and nail/screw holes
    9) Finish mudding
    10) Sanding
