Student Video Games Demonstrate Mix of Imagination And Technical Skill

Chrono Tear … Sledge … Sock-It: One of these could be the next big thing in video games! Designed by students in Wake Tech’s Simulation and Game Development program, the games were presented at the annual Student Showcase on Main Campus tonight.

Wake Tech students took home top honors after an excellent showing at  Phi Beta Lambda’s National Leadership Conference competition, held June 24-27 in Nashville, Tennessee. Phi Beta Lambda is the national student academic organization for business and leadership.

New students who have completed the application process can now register and pay for fall classes. The registration period, which opened earlier this month for continuing students, now includes students who are new to Wake Tech.

Wake Tech Receives Innovation Award for New Initiative

A new Wake Tech initiative to engage employees in creative, collaborative problem-solving has won the 2014 Innovation of the Year Award from the League for Innovation. The initiative, called SAIL (Succeed, Achieve, Improve, Learn), is a structured process through which college staff and faculty can work together to address institutional challenges.

Wake Tech’s well-known, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Campus, adjacent to WakeMed in Raleigh, has a new name: Today, college officials dedicated the Perry Health Sciences Campus to honor Jim Perry, Chair of Wake Tech’s Board of Trustees, and his wife, Becky.

A collaboration between Wake Technical Community College and NC Wesleyan College will give Wake Tech graduates new options for pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott and Jim Gray, President of NC Wesleyan College, announced the new program during a signing ceremony on Wake Tech’s Main Campus.

U.S. Representative David Price visited Wake Tech Community College today to announce a major grant award the college will receive from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The award, more than $825,000, comes from the NSF’s Advanced Technological Education program.
