State Treasurer Janet Cowell visited Wake Tech Community College today to discuss financial literacy with students. Steve Brooks, Executive Director of the State Education Assistance Authority, joined the discussion and introduced students to Advanced Money Management, a new online tool that can help students manage their finances and minimize debt.

More than 300 students of all ages who never completed high school finally enjoyed a graduation they never had. Wake Technical Community College held its fall graduation ceremony for students receiving their GED or Adult High School diploma.

Wake Tech graduates who have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree have a new, convenient way to continue on to pursue their bachelor's degree. Wake Tech announced a new partnership today with William Peace University that guarantees admission for Wake Tech AAS graduates planning to earn a B.S. in Business Administration or Business Administration/HR.

Wake Tech automotive instructor Rich Cregar has been named a "Champion of Change" by the White House and will be recognized in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, November 3. Two students in Wake Tech's Automotive Technologies program, Samuel Johnson and Devin Fowler, will accompany Cregar for a day of activities.

Wake Technical Community College is the recipient of a 2011 Triangle Business Journal Green Award. The award recognizes Building D on Wake Tech's Northern Wake Tech Campus on Louisburg Road (US 401 N) in Raleigh. Building D is the third instructional building on the environmentally-friendly campus.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan visited Wake Tech's Public Safety Education Campus today for a Town Hall meeting with students, faculty, and community leaders to discuss the challenges facing community colleges and the future of education in our country.

"You are our experts!" Those were the words of Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott tonight at Wake Tech's annual dinner honoring the College's 62 advisory committees. More than 350 professionals from the community serve on these committees, which support Wake Tech by helping to shape programs and ensure the relevance of course content and instruction.

Wake Tech Community College is celebrating two decades of transfer options for students. Wake Tech hosted a reception tonight on Main Campus to mark the 20th anniversary of the College/University Transfer program. The event featured a dessert reception, special tributes, and music from the Wake Tech Chorus.

An enthusiastic crowd cheered at the first pep rally in Wake Tech's new gym today. Athletes, students, faculty and staff members dressed in the school colors of blue and gold for the event which helped kick off the men's and women's basketball seasons. The name of the college's mascot was also revealed.
