Explore all the opportunities awaiting you at Wake Tech during the college's Open House, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday on Southern Wake Campus.
One in every 10 people in Wake County lacks food security, according to Feeding America, a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. That means those individuals sometimes don't have access to enough food for an active, healthy life or have limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods.
The Nest seeks to alleviate food insecurity by providing free, accessible food pantries across Wake Tech's campuses that offer monthly shopping opportunities and nutrition education. Online and in-person ordering options let students build custom orders according to their personal preferences and dietary needs and pick up their food at any of four locations:
The pantries at Southern Wake and Scott Northern Wake campuses are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Call 919-866-6111 or email [email protected] to schedule an appointment to visit the pantries on the Perry Health Sciences or RTP campuses.
The Perch resource pantry, managed and operated by Wake Tech Libraries and the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC), aims to support students by providing essential resources to students in need. With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the goal is to ensure that no student faces unnecessary barriers to success.
Here's what you can find at The Perch:
The best part is that Perch resource pantries are conveniently located on every campus – in libraries, TLCs, open computer labs and e-Learning Testing Centers – making them easily accessible to all students. For more information, call 919-866-5465 or email [email protected].
