Nutrition Education Resources

To provide more comprehensive nutritional support, the Care Center has compiled a list of nutrition education opportunities and resources. Explore local nutrition education classes, request assistance with SNAP applications, view cooking demonstrations and explore healthy recipes.

  • Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
The food bank's website provides healthy recipes, virtual cooking demonstrations and nutrition education resources you can easily download.
If you would like to apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits but need help with the application process, connect with someone who can help.

  • Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
EFNEP teaches individuals how to save at the grocery store, cook healthier meals at home, improve their diet and reduce waste. Classes are free and hosted inside Wake County community centers.
The EFNEP blog is a source of recipes and cooking tips. Articles are focused on singular food items, such as cauliflower or asparagus. The blog also provides general health advice on common topics like how to stay active in the winter.

  • More in My Basket
MIMB is a SNAP outreach and education program from North Carolina State University that provides over-the-phone SNAP application assistance in all 100 North Carolina counties in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Call toll-free 855-240-1451 (English) or 888-382-7105 (Español) or visit the MIMB website to learn more.
The website offers information about using SNAP benefits at farmers markets, shopping with SNAP online and getting the most out of your food budget each month. The MIMB blog page includes recipes and useful tips on subjects like eliminating food waste.
