Description
This course is an introduction to the study of medical terms. Emphasis is placed on definitions, spelling, and commonly-used prefixes, suffixes, root words, and combining forms. Participants will learn terminology for the anatomy and physiology of all body systems, laboratory medicine, pharmacology, and major diseases as well as terms used in physical exams, operative procedures, and diagnosis.
Course Objectives
  1. Identify the four types of word parts used in forming medical terms.
  2. Identify medical terms related to anatomy and physiology.
  3. Recognize, define, spell, and pronounce terms associated with radiography, nuclear medicine, other imaging techniques, pharmacology, and frequently performed laboratory tests.
  4. Identify medical terms related to diseases, disorders and other medical conditions.
