Emergency Medical Science Bridge

The Emergency Medical Science Bridge program is designed for credentialed paramedics who want to obtain their EMS degree. Paramedics must have an active state or national paramedic credential to be eligible.

The Bridge program provides formal education in EMS management and advanced pre-hospital practice.

The program is 100% online, which ensures that any paramedic can enroll, no matter their shift schedule. All courses also qualify for continuing education credit.

Follow these steps to join the program:

  1. Apply for admission to Wake Tech
  2. Request that official transcripts from high school or GED scores, and college transcripts if applicable, be sent electronically to [email protected]. Once received, your file will be reviewed for admissions and course placement.
  3. Apply for financial aid and veterans benefits, if applicable.
  4. Provide a copy of your in-date, unencumbered North Carolina or National Registry paramedic credential. If you have an active, unencumbered North Carolina Level I or II instructor credential or a Nationally Credentialed EMS Educator (NCEE) credential, you can receive credit for EMS-125: Instructor Methodology. Send copies of those credentials in with your paramedic credentials.
  5. Once admitted, follow the steps to enroll on the New Student Checklist

A welcome email will be sent to your personal email address on file. The email includes instructions on how to set up and access your Key Account for all Wake Tech services.

Once you set up your Key Account, you will be able to access your Wake Tech email and the eLearning Intro course on Blackboard. You must complete the course prior to registering for any classes.

You can then use Self-Service to register for classes. Preferred class sections fill quickly, so don't wait to register.

For more information, contact EMS Department Head Billy Ray Langston at 919-866-6085 or [email protected].
