Health and Fitness Science
The Health and Fitness Science Degree program at Wake Technical Community College is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the fitness and exercise industry. Students will be trained in exercise science and be able to administer basic fitness tests and health risk appraisals, teach specific exercise and fitness classes and provide instruction in the proper use of exercise equipment and facilities. Graduates should qualify for employment opportunities in commercial fitness clubs, YMCA’s/YWCA’s, wellness programs in business and industry, Parks & Recreation Departments and other organizations implementing exercise & fitness programs.

Complete the Wake Tech Community College Application for Admission.
Request official transcripts. Official high school transcript required; college transcripts required only if you have an associate’s degree or higher and want to transfer credit hours or waive the high school transcript requirement.

Applicable High School Equivalency Assessments include General Educational Development (GED), High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), and Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC).
- Apply for Financial Aid and Veterans benefits. Students applying for financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit all supporting documents to make sure their request can be processed in time for the start of the semester. Be sure to include the Wake Tech school code: 004844.
- Take the placement test. Schedule and prepare for the test at the Testing Center website. Students who meet certain requirements may be exempt from testing. You may read about the exemptions from the placement test at the Testing Center website.
