The Health & Fitness Science program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the fitness and exercise industry. Students are trained in exercise science, allowing them to administer basic fitness tests and health risk appraisals. They also learn how to teach specific exercise and fitness classes and to show people how to use of exercise equipment and facilities.

Graduates should qualify for the following positions in commercial fitness clubs, YMCAs/YWCAs, company wellness programs, parks and recreation departments and other organizations implementing exercise and fitness programs:

  • Strength and conditioning coach
  • Health fitness professional
  • Group exercise/aerobics instructor
  • Personal trainer
  • Wellness coach or consultant
  • Athletic coach or trainer
  • Physical therapist
  • Fitness instructor
  • Exercise physiologist
