Green Trek is an initiative started by Wake Tech to encourage students and employees to use more sustainable forms of transportation – moving away from driving alone in cars toward carpools, buses, bicycles and walking. The goal is to reduce the number of vehicle miles traveled by decreasing the number of cars on the road.
This is a regional partnership effort that also includes GoRaleigh, GoTriangle, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and other agencies and organizations.
Join Wake Tech’s Green Trek program on October 20 to explore the Neuse River Greenway, which runs right behind our Scott Northern Wake Campus.
Two bike rides are available. One is less than 5 miles, stopping at Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve. The other is a more intense 16-mile ride, stopping at Green Hills County Park.
Both rides start at 3 p.m. from Parking Lot N behind building J. If it rains that day, the rides will be rescheduled to November 3 at the same time and location.
Basic bike maintenance will be discussed before the ride to help ensure that both trips go as smooth as possible.
