Wake Technical Community College is pleased to announce that it has renewed its membership in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). AASHE supports sustainability by providing institutions with resources, professional development, and a peer support network.

Wake Tech Trustee Ron Wainwright has been elected to the Executive Board of the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees (NCACCT).

Wake Tech has been honored for its commitment and excellence in training local law enforcement personnel. Raleigh Police Chief Harry Dolan presented the “Chief’s Citation” award to three leaders in Wake Tech’s Public Safety Training Division.

Two former Wake County sheriff’s deputies from Garner will lead the new Wake Tech Police Department. Michael Allen Penry was sworn in today as Police Chief; Paul Andrew Quinn was sworn in as major and will serve as Assistant Chief.

Wake Tech Community College students showcased their skills at Phi Beta Lambda’s State Leadership Conference. They won 19 awards, including six first place honors.

Seventy-two-year-old Dallas Foster, a Business Education Advisor at Wake Tech, was honored at a ceremony on Main Campus today. Foster will retire May 31 after nearly 39 years of service.

Nearly 350 students of all ages who never completed high school finally turned their tassels in celebration of a job well done. Wake Tech Community College held its spring graduation ceremony tonight for students receiving their GED or Adult High School diploma.

Wake Tech Community College hosted its spring commencement exercises today. More than 1,100 students received degrees and diplomas in three separate ceremonies held in the new gymnasium on Main Campus. Including those who graduated in December, the Class of 2012 includes more than 2,300 students who received degrees, diplomas and certificates.

The wheels are turning at Wake Tech! Seventy pre-engineering students from Wake Tech and Central Piedmont Community College faced-off in a “Rube Goldberg” contest on Main campus.
