The Wake Tech Community College Foundation is pleased to welcome local community leader Jennifer Bryan as the newest member of its staff. Bryan joins the Foundation as Director of Strategic Partnerships.

After months of strenuous training – both mental and physical – 27 students graduated from Wake Tech’s Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program. The ceremony was held at Wake Tech’s Public Safety Education Campus.

Wake Tech’s Main Campus is undergoing some changes due to construction, which will impact parking for the 2013-2014 academic year. Please be aware that Lot L, which runs adjacent to the Student Services Building, is closed at this time due to the construction of a new administration/classroom building. 

Wake Tech’s Western Wake Campus welcomed the community to an open house today, part of a year-long 50thanniversary celebration taking place across all of Wake Tech’s campuses.

Three Wake Tech students won top honors in Phi Beta Lambda’s National Leadership Conference competition, held June 22-25 in Anaheim, California. Phi Beta Lambda is the national student academic organization for business and leadership.

Wake Tech’s Early Childhood Education program has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Commission on Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation. To earn accreditation, programs must undergo a two-year process that includes collecting and reporting data, participating in a self-study, and passing muster with a team of peer reviewers at a site visit.

The Wake Tech Foundation welcomes local business leaders Rod Webb, John Wojcik, and Andy Penry to its board of directors. The new members were selected for their dedication and commitment to the mission of the college.

ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies, has strengthened its commitment to Wake Tech and is offering, for the first time, a co-op position to a Wake Tech student. David Wingler, a 26-year-old student who lives near Apex, will work at an ABB facility in New Berlin, Wisconsin this summer.

Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Tech Community College, announced today that the college will become part of an important local higher education initiative. Wake Tech is joining Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (CRC), a nonprofit consortium of higher education institutions in Raleigh and Wake County that promotes collaboration among its members and the community.
