Description
En este curso los estudiantes aprenderán los principios básicos de la computadora, cómo funcionan las computadoras, el hardware (componentes),el software (programas), los tipos de computadores, las impresoras, a navegar en internet y el sistema operativo de Windows y se familiarizaran con el uso del ratón, el teclado y las unidades de disco. Al final del curso, los estudiantes habrán adquirido una mejor comprensión de los computadores.

Course Objectives
- be able to demonstrate competency in basic computer functionality, using the mouse, keyboard and disk drives
- be able to browse the web
Outline of Instruction
- 1. Define a computer system
2. Turn on the computer
3. Use the keyboard as an input device
4. Handle a mouse to resize, move, and scroll through windows environment
5. Launch applications and make choices
6. Define hardware and software
7. Utilize some application software simulations
8. Discuss and use file and directory organization
9. Identify storage media and devices
10. Use internet
11. Work with email, attachments and message folders

Requirements for Successful Completion of this Course
- Attendance 90% or above
- Participation
- Grading:
Successful completion of this course requires 90% attendance and satisfactory class participation (i.e., be able to demonstrate proficiency in all concepts taught). If a student has extenuating circumstances causing absences of greater than 10% of the class time, the student must make arrangements with the instructor to provide evidence of keeping up with the class material and making up the work, exercises, and projects missed; or demonstrate competency in the course objectives. Students with irregular attendance, less than 90% attendance, or is unable to demonstrate competency will receive a grade of NG (no grade)
