The Interior Design Foundations Certificate is an introduction to the foundational principles necessary to understand the practice and profession of interior design.
Students learn basic architectural drafting, lettering, use of architectural/engineer scales, sketching and computer-aided design (CAD) techniques. It introduces visual presentation techniques for communicating ideas, basic concepts and terminology of design, and students learn space planning in residential and commercial interiors, with an emphasis placed on designing for the functionality of interiors through space planning.
Upon completion, students should be able to prepare and print scaled drawings within minimum architectural standards, demonstrate an understanding of the principles covered through 2D and 3D exploration and graphically communicate space plans for a variety of interiors.
