Wake Tech is closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for 12- and eight-week Spring semester courses. The college will reopen Tuesday morning.

The Interior Design curriculum is designed to prepare students for a variety of job opportunities in the field of both residential and non-residential interior design. The focus of the studies is technical knowledge, professional practices, and aesthetic principles.

Students receive instruction in the following:

  • Basic design
  • Graphic presentation
  • Construction document preparation
  • Materials and methods
  • Environmental and structural systems
  • Building codes and specifications
  • Computer-aided design
  • History of interiors and furnishings
  • Color theory
  • Products
  • Business practices

Upon completion, graduates have career opportunities in residential or commercial interior design, architecture, set design, showroom design, furniture/textiles/accessories sales and any business dealing with interiors.
