All Wake Tech campuses remain closed Tuesday, February 3, 2026, due to slick road conditions. Students taking in-person classes should check with their instructors for more information. Online courses continue as scheduled. Many Wake Tech services, including Admissions and Academic Advising, are available virtually at virtualsupport.waketech.edu. Wake Tech employees who can work remotely should do so.
The Addiction and Recovery Studies Intervention Certificate is designed for individuals who already hold a degree in a discipline not related to human or social services and have little previous experience working in addiction treatment settings.
The certificate requires completion of field work hours, and it may assist students in meeting the educational requirements for certification and/or licensure from the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.
The certificate transfers into the Social & Human Services AAS Degree program for students wishing to earn a two-year degree. Individuals who don't have any previous college experience are encouraged to consider the AAS program.
