Wake Tech is on the grid – with a new solar array demonstrating the college’s longstanding commitment to students and to environmental responsibility. More than 1300 solar panels have been installed on the roof of Wake Tech’s Public Safety Education Campus, on Chapanoke Road in Raleigh.

Duke Professor Encourages Creative Entrepreneurship

Self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur” Carl Nordgren described generosity, humility, playfulness, and enthusiasm as critical to successful entrepreneurship as he spoke on Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus. Nordgren, an author and associate professor at Duke University, told budding entrepreneurs about the relationship-building power of storytelling and creativity during the recent Speaker Series event sponsored by the Wake Tech-Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship.

Wake Tech Students Organize Food Drive

Making a difference—one can at a time. Students at Wake Tech Community College have been collecting canned food items for students in need for more than a month. The Student Government Association (SGA) and Eagle Productions, another student group that plans activities and special events, organized the food drive, which netted more than 1,600 non-perishable items from students, faculty and staff.

Design a video game or create a website. Learn what it’s like to run a business. Wake Tech Community College announces its 2013 Summer Camp schedule for middle and high school students. A variety of camps are being offered, including engineering, youth entrepreneurship, video game design, robotics, drama, photo shopping, biotech, and website creation.

The Board of Trustees of Wake Technical Community College is pleased to welcome a new member, Richard Boyd. Appointed by former Governor Bev Perdue, Boyd was sworn in as the newest trustee on the 12-member board on Tuesday, February 19, by NC Supreme Court Justice Paul M. Newby.

Local Business Leader’s Generous Gift Continues Commitment to Wake Tech

A Raleigh business leader and long-time supporter of Wake Tech has contributed $50,000 to support scholarships for students facing financial hardship. John Alexander, president and general manager of Cardinal International Trucking, today gave the generous donation to Wake Tech’s major gifts campaign, “The Ripple Effect,” in honor of his wife, Susan.
