Wake Tech Receives Grant To Assist Immigrants

Wake Technical Community College has received a $9,000 grant from the Mexican Consulate to help Hispanic immigrants earn educational credentials. The funds will support the La Plaza Comunitaria program as well as providing financial assistance for vocational training.

Wake Tech President Receives Ceremonial Mace

The Wake Tech Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society had a special gift for Wake Tech President Stephen Scott at their fall induction ceremony. Students presented Dr. Scott with a mace – an ornamental staff made of metal or wood, traditionally carried in academic processions – to commemorate Wake Tech’s 50thanniversary this year.

Wake Tech To Serve Veterans With Grant From Walmart Foundation

Wake Tech Community College is pleased to have a new avenue for helping military veterans find employment and career advancement opportunities. The college will receive $10,000 – part of a grant from the Walmart Foundation – to support vocational education for veterans.

Wake Tech Names First Idol

Yolanda Briggs is the very first Wake Tech Idol! A Wake Tech student in her first semester, Yolanda competed against 11 other finalists during the Fine Arts contest on Friday, November 8. More than 80 students auditioned for the event over several weeks.

Wake Tech Honors Veterans

Special ceremonies honoring military veterans took place today on Wake Tech’s Main and Northern Wake campuses. Students, faculty, staff, and veterans attended the events, which included speeches and a moment of silence as well as ceremonial presentations and refreshments.

Children's Artwork Takes Center Stage At Wake Tech

Students in Wake Tech’s Early Childhood Education program had a chance to show off their students’ handiwork on Saturday, November 2. A Children’s Art Exhibit at the Northern Wake Campus featured artwork by children in the classes of Wake Tech students.
