Wake Tech Joins Popular 'Common App'

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 17, 2025) – Applying for admission to Wake Tech just got easier. New students can now do so through Common App, making Wake Tech among the first community colleges in the nation and the first in North Carolina to become part of the popular online college application platform.
Common App is a single point of admissions application used by more than 1,000 universities across the country. By joining the platform, Wake Tech will streamline the application process for many high school seniors interested in applying to multiple institutions and gain exposure to students who may not have otherwise considered Wake Tech. There is no application fee to apply to Wake Tech.
As one of the first community college members of Common App, Wake Tech will also help refine and make recommendations on how the platform can better serve two-year colleges.
"We are excited to be part of this pilot program and look forward to the enhanced visibility for the college in our service area. We are also honored to be asked to contribute to the development of community college usage of Common App," said Brian Gann, Wake Tech's vice president of Enrollment and Student Services.
Wake Tech's application is live now for the Fall 2026 semester. Students who are thinking of applying to Wake Tech in the future can create a Common App account now because their account will roll over to next year's admissions season.
Wake Tech students are already among the nation's highest users of the Common App for transfer, a separate application designed exclusively to meet the needs of transfer and adult student populations.
Founded in 1975, Common App serves hundreds of colleges and universities and more than 3 million applicants, teachers, counselors and advisors worldwide each year.
