If you're struggling with a writing assignment or simply want to strengthen your writing, reading and study skills, the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) is here to help. The free tutoring offered by the TLC can support your development as a college-level writer and researcher, enhancing the skills you need for college and for the workforce.
Professional TLC tutors and English Department faculty can assist with the following:
Writing TLC tutors can not only help with writing assignments in any Wake Tech course, they also can assist with university admission and transfer essays, including the Common App, and scholarship essays.
Tutoring is available both in person and online, and some campuses accept walk-ins. Check the main TLC page for operating hours on each campus.

Students enrolled in any curriculum-level English course, such as ENG-111, ENG-112 or ENG-232, can also get tutoring help from English Department faculty through the English TLC, which was formerly known as the REAL Center. Sessions cover course concepts and all stages of the writing process.

No appointments are needed. The hours of operation differ and can be found on-site, as well as on the English TLC Blackboard course shell (ENG.TLC).
Online tutoring is available through Microsoft Teams. Appointments are required. Use your Wake Tech email address to schedule a session.
Email feedback is also available. Tutors will need a copy of your draft, assignment instructions and a completed submission form.
