“The Nest” Food Pantry
The Nest Food Pantry opened in 2014 to assist Wake Tech students impacted by food insecurity and hunger. Food Insecurity - Limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods, or limited or uncertain ability to acquire foods in socially acceptable ways. This is a condition that results from lack of money and other resources for food. Hunger - An individual-level, physiological condition that may result from food insecurity...The potential consequence of prolonged, involuntary lack of food, resulting in discomfort, illness, weakness, or pain that goes beyond the usual uneasy sensation. –(USDA)
The Nest Food Pantry is a free resource available to all current Wake Tech students. Students can shop monthly and partake in special dining initiatives around holidays such as A Wake & Thankful in celebration of Thanksgiving.
The Nest Food Pantry now offers online and advanced ordering. Student shoppers can build their own custom order unique to their personal preferences and dietary needs for pick up on any Wake Tech campus.
