Please Be Advised

  • All students MUST present their Wake Tech Student ID (as shown below) in order to complete testing in the eLTC. Neither old style IDs or Driver's Licenses are accepted.
  • Cell phones are prohibited in the eLTC during testing.
  • To reduce distractions, phone calls are not accepted nor returned during testing.
  • Deadline for WTCC Seated Make-up Exams: November 20

Alternate Proctoring Locations & Services

Approved SmarterProctoring Academic Institutions

Students residing within a fifty-mile radius of WTCC are expected to test in the eLearning Testing Center unless special circumstances are demonstrated.  Students requesting an Alternate Proctoring Institution (API) are responsible for having the API approved by their WTCC course instructor

** All Proctors Must Be Within an Educational Setting: ** i.e. academic institution with an official school email address, employer within an educational setting or military base.  Military personnel may make arrangements for proctored testing with the command educational officer. Students may not use personal friends, colleagues, or family members as proctors.

Students should log into their Blackboard account and select the relevant course.  Select the “Tools” link on the left side of the instructor’s course page and select the SmarterProctoring icon. 

Enter a zip code and select the desired proctor and schedule appointment.  Inform WTCC instructor of approved Alternate Proctoring Institution (API).

If API is not listed in SmarterProctoring, please contact preferred academic institution and request they register an account with SmarterProctoring to expedite the transfer of testing materials with WTCC. 

If you are unable to schedule an appointment with your selected API, please contact your instructor regarding the API Contract, which must be completed and signed, then approved by your instructor at least 3 to 5 business days before the opening of the relevant testing window


Testing Reservations

Reservation Policy and Scheduling

All student reservations for online/hybrid testing must be secured through SmarterProctoring Management Services located in the instructor’s Blackboard course shell. The eLTC strongly recommends scheduling appointments in advance, and no less than 24 hours before desired testing time, to ensure preferred appointment times, seating or and location.

**Time blocks may not appear once maximum seat capacities are filled. If this occurs, select a different campus location; or alter the preferred time and/or date within the current test window.**

Students should complete the following steps to reserve appointment(s):

  • Login to Blackboard and select relevant course for testing.
  • Access the “Tools” link on the left panel of the instructor’s Blackboard page
  • Select the SmarterProctoring icon.
  • Enter zip code to create an account and choose preferred eLTC campus location OR Alternate Proctoring Institution (API must be registered with SmarterProctoring)
  • Follow blue prompts to select date and time for testing.
  • Check the box acknowledging eLTC policy regarding student obligations.

Canceling and/or Rescheduling
Student reservation appointments can be canceled and/or rescheduled through student SmarterProctoring accounts instantly.

Student Obligations

  • Students may NOT bring cell phones or personal electronic devices to the testing center.
  • A current Wake Tech photo I.D. badge is required to complete testing. No WTCC student may complete testing without a valid WTCC student I.D.
  • No exam will be issued within 45 minutes of closing time. Late arrivals may not receive the maximum time allowed or may be required to schedule a new appointment.

Proctored Testing for Non-Wake Tech Students

Proctored Testing for Non-Wake Tech Courses

To reduce distractions for students testing in the testing centers, phone calls are neither answered nor returned.  Please send all inquiries to [email protected]

Wake Tech offers proctored testing services to faculty, staff, graduates, alumni, and online students enrolled at four-year universities and community colleges in the NC Community College System. Those meeting these criteria must complete a verification process by emailing student name, contact number, instructor’s name, email address, and course name to [email protected]. 

** All appointment requests must be submitted 72 HOURS (3 weekdays) BEFORE your desired testing date - any request not meeting this requirement will not be responded to nor honored. **

This service is not available to students not affiliated with WTCC and enrolled in four-year colleges or universities, government agencies, public or private business, or industries. 

Any appointments scheduled through the UNC Portal that have not been previously approved by the eLTC will be canceled immediately.
