Getting Started with DSS

Follow these steps to connect with Disability Support Services:

  1. Fill out the electronic initial inquiry form
  2. Add supporting documentation using the following guidelines:
    – ADD/ADHD documentation
    – Autism Spectrum Disorder documentation
    – Deaf and hard-of-hearing documentation
    – Learning disability documentation
    – Medical/physical documentation
    – Psychological/psychiatric documentation
    – Visual impairment documentation
  3. Your coordinator will contact you for a consultation meeting to gather details about your disability and needs. This meeting typically lasts only about 15 minutes.
  4. Coordinators will then review your information, which may take up to two weeks. DSS will let you know if additional information is needed, so check your Wake Tech email regularly.
  5. Your assigned coordinator will contact you to schedule an Accommodation Review Meeting, where you will:
    – Finalize your accommodations
    – Sign a service contract
    – Learn about the processes for testing, sending accommodations notices to your instructors and more.

All meetings may be held in person or virtually using Microsoft Teams. The consultation meeting may also be held via phone.

NOTE: If you prefer to drop off information in person, you may print the Documentation Drop-off Form, attach documentation and bring it to any of our campus locations

If you have any questions, email [email protected] or call 919-866-5670.

For information on evaluations and therapies, check the community resources list. This list is not all-inclusive. Wake Tech does not partner with or endorse any specific providers.
