The Academic Success Workshops offered through the Tutoring and Learning Center are designed to help students develop effective college study and learning habits.
For more information on any workshops, contact TLC staff at [email protected] or 919-866-6880.
These workshops are for students who want to develop their understanding of specific class lessons or skills. For example, the TLC offers math review workshops to review math concepts for upcoming tests and exams; study skills workshops, including workshops about using AI, to help students build study strategies and become more aware of how they learn best; and writing workshops. To find upcoming workshop information, visit the specific TLC pages and select the location where you want to attend the workshop.
These workshops are for students on academic suspension or for anyone who wants to learn how to be a stronger college student. Starting with a brief series of questions for self-reflection, the workshops introduce students to a variety of practices to help them better manage their learning experience:
After completing the workshops, students should be able to identify and apply useful strategies that make them stronger college students.
If a student isn't able to attend a Practicing Success workshop, he or she can watch the video and complete and submit the questionnaire to fulfill the workshop requirement. All questions must be completed for the student to get credit.
Once a student has completed the video and submitted the questionnaire, allow up to 24 hours (excluding weekends) for the registration hold to be lifted.
Students are encouraged to connect with their advisor for further assistance with course planning and creating a plan to get back on track academically.
