Financial Aid Refunds

I Have An Award Letter, Now What? Text Books and More...

  • Register for classes if you haven’t already done so.
  • You have been awarded; therefore, you do not need to do anything on the payment deadline date. Your classes will not be purged. Do not be concerned that your classes are not shown as paid. The actual financial aid funds will not be applied to your charges until after your attendance is verified.
  • Remember to drop your classes if you decide not to attend. You must drop the classes yourself via Self Service. You now have a valid financial aid award in place. Therefore, you will not be dropped automatically for nonpayment.
  • You will need a Wake Tech ID to purchase books using your financial aid in the campus bookstore.
  • Bookstore purchases are allowed as follows:
    • Fall 2019: Aug 5- Sept 3
    • Spring 2020: Dec 30- Dec. 31 bookstore will process online orders only during this time. In-store book sales Jan 2-Jan 31
    • Summer 2020: May 14-June 5
  • All first time Wake Tech loan borrowers must complete the following at https://studentloans.gov:
    • Online Entrance Loan Counseling
    • Master Promissory Note
  • All Wake Tech students must review and either accept or reject the Financial Aid Terms and Conditions. This can be done in Web Advisor.
  • If you choose to reject the Terms and Conditions you will not have access to your funds to charge in the bookstore.

2018-2019 Refund Schedule

  • Funds will be released to BankMobile for disbursement according to the schedule below.
    The ACTUAL date that you will receive your refund is based on your designated refund preference. Visit BankMobile Refund Choices for more information. 

If you do not select your refund preference your funds may be delayed up to two weeks. 

  • Please understand that if you submit your paperwork after the semester priority deadline, your file may not be processed by the first refund distribution date of the semester.

FALL 2018

If you are taking courses in a combination of sessions that include the second eight-week term your financial aid will in most instances be paid in two disbursements.

What do I need to do? Attend class and maintain your completion rate and GPA so that you do not lose your financial aid.

Reminders: In order to receive a refund we must receive your funds from the funding source by the date specified. If you are awarded a Direct Loan you must complete your master promissory note, entrance loan counseling, and Terms and Conditions before funds are released. Additionally, you must be enrolled for at least six credit hours when your funds are disbursed.

The Financial Aid Office does reserve the right to request an attendance verification form when there is conflicting information regarding a student’s attendance.

We will do our best to issue the refunds on the dates listed above. However, we reserve the right to change dates if it becomes necessary due to workflows in Financial Services or the Financial Aid Office. If it is necessary to adjust the dates it should not vary by more than 1 or 2 days.
