Types of Financial Aid
A variety of financial aid is available to Wake Tech students, from scholarships and federal and state grants – money that does not have to be repaid – to low-interest student loans and even opportunities to work part time while completing your studies.
These different types of aid have varying eligibility requirements and application processes, but completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in a timely manner is a key part of securing most aid.
Government regulations allow students to receive federal student aid at only one institution at a time. If a Wake Tech student is taking one or more classes at another school, the courses must transfer to Wake Tech and apply to the degree program here to be eligible for financial aid. The Financial Aid Office uses a Consortium Agreement form to total the number of credit hours the student is taking at both schools and bases the financial aid offer on that total. Students are responsible for paying all upfront charges at the other school until aid is disbursed.
