ESL Placement Test
The ESL placement test is designed for any student whose native language is not English. The ESL placement test is a computer-based, un-timed test that measures multiple levels of English proficiency. It is used to place students in appropriate EFL (English as a Foreign Language) courses and maximize their potential for success.
The ESL placement test consists of two areas: Reading Skills and Language Use. After testing, students will be referred to the EFL Advising Center. A writing sample and an in-person interview will be conducted in the EFL Advising Center.
Students taking the ESL placement test are encouraged to view sample ESL questions to prepare for the test. The only sections that are needed are Reading Skills and Language Use which are pages 14, part of 15 and 17 (not the Sentence Meaning section of 15 and 16).
ESL testing is available on all campuses.
