Welcome to Wake Tech East! Conveniently located off Interstate 87 in Wendell, it is Wake Tech's newest site, offering university transfer degrees and specialized programs, in engineering, public safety and aviation. Future programs include biopharmaceutical technology, additive manufacturing, mechatronics, robotics and automation.

Facilities

  • Education and Innovation Center
    The hub of innovative student learning. A sophisticated instructional and student services building with smart classrooms, state-of-the-art science labs, an auditorium, a library and dedicated tutoring and study spaces. It houses Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Engineering for university transfer. Student services include Admissions, Advising, Registration, IT support and food services.
     
  • Public Safety Simulation Complex
    North Carolina's most comprehensive reality-based scenario training facility, with a 4D immersive village for training first responders and an EMS ambulance bay for the Emergency Medical Science AAS degree program. A driver training track supports emergency vehicle and motorcycle training, while a state-of-the-art drone pavilion is the site of Unmanned Aircraft Systems training through partner Elizabeth City State University.
     
  • Advanced Technology Center (opening Spring 2025)
    A state-of-the-art engineering and advanced manufacturing education center supporting Industry 4.0 production. Home of the Biopharmaceutical Technology AAS degree program, training will take place in a unique simulated work environment. A Systems Integration Lab will feature intelligent automation, robotics, mechatronics and microelectronics, as well as a makerspace for student collaboration. ECU will be onsite offering its BS in Industrial Technology.
     
  • Central Energy Plant
    With a focus on sustainability, the facility also serves as a Renewable Energy Training Center, supporting training through WakeWorks Apprenticeship. The plant hosts chillers and boilers for cooling and heating campuswide. Energy savings and efficiencies are incorporated using advanced solar technology and geothermal wells.
