Educators, business leaders, and elected officials joined Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott to break ground on "Building E" today.

Wake Technical Community College welcomed U.S. Representative Bob Etheridge to main campus today as part of the college's celebration of Constitution Day. Rep. Etheridge addressed students, faculty, and staff about the Constitution and its importance to Americans today.

The Wake Technical Community College Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome two new members to its ranks. Brenda Castonguay, appointed by Governor Perdue, and Merrie Hedrick, appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners, were sworn in on Tuesday, August 17, as the newest Trustees on Wake Tech's 12-member Board.

Robert "Butch" Grove, a Wake Tech instructor and administrator for more than 20 years, has been named Wake Tech's new Dean of Sustainability. Grove will be in charge of incorporating sustainable practices and processes into Wake Tech programs as well as adding new environmentally-focused training components.

Wake Technical Community College has been selected to lead a statewide overhaul of community college programs to improve education and training in emerging green technologies and sustainability. Wake Tech Dean Robert "Butch" Grove will manage the Code Green Super CIP (Curriculum Improvement Project).

The Board of Directors of the Wake Tech Foundation begins the new fiscal year with a new leadership team in place. Rachel Selisker, a CPA and 1976 graduate of Wake Tech's Accounting program, has been named Board Chair. Selisker is president of Seamark Advisors.

Excitement filled the air as students began classes today on Wake Tech campuses throughout the county. For the first time in Wake Tech history, enrollment in curriculum classes surpassed 18,000 students on the first day of fall semester!
