Wake Tech Campus Police Force Marks First Anniversary

Wake Tech’s campus police force is marking one year of service to the campus community. The Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the force in April of last year, and officers reported for duty July 1, 2012. Fourteen other North Carolina community colleges in the state have campus police, as do all the universities in the UNC system.

Wake Tech Launches New Emergency Alert System

Wake Tech Community College is launching a new emergency notification system called Wake Tech WARN. The system will send voice, text and email alerts in the event of a campus emergency, safety hazard or inclement weather situation.

Wake Tech Hosts International Visitors

Wake Tech welcomed visitors from Belarus and Morocco this week. The visitors from Morocco included 20 senior officials from parliament and government who were interested in learning about how the United States engages youth in policy making, government decision making and in preparing youth for better job opportunities.

Wake Tech Celebrates Opening of New Medical Training Facility

A realistic nursing simulation suite, hospital-sized radiography labs, and an EMS ambulance bay are just some of the state-of-the-art training features in the newest building on Wake Tech’s Health Sciences Campus adjacent to WakeMed. Educators, architects and elected officials gathered today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Health Sciences Building 2.

Wake Tech Welcomes New Trustees

 The Board of Trustees of Wake Technical Community College is pleased to welcome two new members to its ranks. David Robinson, appointed by Governor Pat McCrory, and Phil Zachary, appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners, were sworn in Tuesday, August 20, as the newest trustees on Wake Tech’s 12-member board.

Wake Tech leaders joined U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today for a tour of the Pergo manufacturing plant in Garner. Wake Tech will soon launch a customized employee training program for Pergo, a global leader in laminate flooring.
