Careful - flying a drone can get you into legal trouble if you don't know the rules. But once you know them, there's money to be made! The FAA now requires all commercial drone pilots to pass a certification test to pilot a UAS (Unmanned Aerial System). This course prepares you for that test with classroom instruction and instructor feedback.

This 348-hour course teaches students how to care for natural hair without using hair color, perms, relaxers, or other chemicals. The course includes styling techniques such as braiding, twisting, wrapping, extending, and locking natural hair. It also covers bacteriology and infection control, client consultations, business management, professional ethics, and more. Students will be able to practice and apply their skills on clients who visit the Wake Tech salon. Upon completion of the course, they will be able to take the NC State Board of Cosmetic Art's exam to become a licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to state the difference between cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.

The student will be able to identify infection control procedures in the salon.


The student will learn to select wisely, care for, and use properly the commercial products that are related to the application of natural hair treatments.

The student will develop the technical skills required in the practice of a natural hair beauty culture.

The student will be able to identify and create protective styles techniques for natural hair.

The student will prepare for state board examinations in order to obtain a license to practice natural hair.

Autism Technician/Registered Behavior Technician Training

Become a paraprofessional in the field of Autism services. Learn principles and strategies for working with adults and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This course provides an understanding of ASD and best practices for assisting those with functional communication acquisition, social skill development, and behavior change. You'll learn about Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), an empirically validated method for changing behaviors and teaching social and adaptive living skills such as self-care. Successful completion of the course results in a certificate of completion for the 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) course, which can lead to certification as an RBT from the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB). The Registered Behavior Technician is a paraprofessional certified in behavior analysis who practices under the direction of a supervisor. Demand is high due to the prevalence of ASD and North Carolina's insurance mandates for ABA Services. Certification will help students become more marketable and increase opportunities for employment and advancement in the field. Students interested in proceeding to certification can take a competency assessment and schedule the RBT exam. During the course, students will be able to meet with potential employers.

This course prepares students for entry-level employment in maintenance in the rental housing industry. It covers interior and exterior maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliance repair - and includes lectures and hands-on labs. On completion, students will have met one of the requirements for the Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) and will be eligible to take the Section 608 EPA and CAMT Exams. (There is a separate $25 EPA exam fee, payable by credit or debit card.) Certification Learning Outcomes/Requirements

CAMT:
1. Certificate candidates must complete the following within 12 months of declaring
candidacy for CAMT to receive the Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians
designation:
- One year of apartment or rental housing maintenance experience
- CAMT Training
- Pass the CAMT Exam

Prerequisites

Students must have basic knowledge or experience in general apartment maintenance.

Learning Supplies Needed

CAMT Text Book (wake tech will provide), ESCO Institute EPA Certification Preparatory Manual (wake tech will provide), Battery Powered Calculator, Pen/Pencil, photo ID. Students should bring their own tools/materials and wear safety clothes, gloves, shoes, and glasses.

Requirements for Successful Completion

90% attendance
Successful completion of this course requires 90% attendance and satisfactory class participation (i.e., be able to demonstrate proficiency in all concepts taught). If a student has extenuating circumstances causing absences of greater than 10% of the class time, the student must make arrangements with the instructor to provide evidence of keeping up with the class material and making up the work, exercises, and projects missed; or demonstrate competency in the course objectives. Students with irregular attendance, less than 90% attendance, or is unable to demonstrate competency will receive a grade of NG (no grade).,Student must have 100% attendance during the EPA training to be eligible to present the test, students must achieve a minimum of type 1 & 2 on EPA 608 in order to be eligible to receive the certificate of completion. ,Students must arrive on time on testing day. Students will not be allowed into the classroom after the test begins. NO makeup testing date will be offered.,Students must have a passing grade of 66 on CAMT exam in order to obtain the certificate of completion..
