Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Boot Camp

If you're exploring the dental field, the Boot Camp: Prepare for a Dental Hygiene or Dental Assisting Career course taught by Wake Tech faculty and students is the perfect opportunity to have a one-day, hands-on experience with the two professions.

  • Learn the differences between the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene
  • Discover what it takes to be successful in school and the profession after graduation
  • Speak with current students about the programs
  • Rotate through stations with hands-on activities experiencing various topics:
    • Infection control
    • Vital signs (blood pressure)
    • X-rays
    • Polishing
    • Sealants
    • Impressions
    • Instrumentation on a manikin
    • Ultrasonic scaling
    • Demonstrations on local anesthesia
    • NOTE: Topics are subject to change, depending on the availability of stations.

Camps are usually scheduled three times a year, in the middle of the Fall and Spring semesters and the Summer term. Attendees must be at least 18 years old.

The course has been designed for 20 to 30 participants, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
