The Medical Laboratory Technology AAS Degree prepares individuals to perform clinical laboratory procedures to maintain patient health or diagnose and treat disease.
The procedures may be in any of the following:
Chemistry
Hematology
Microbiology
Immunohematology
Course work emphasizes mathematical and scientific concepts related to the following:
Collection of tissue, blood and body fluid specimens
Laboratory testing and procedures
Quality assurance
Reporting/recording and interpreting findings
Graduates may be eligible to take the examination given by the Board of Certification of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Employment opportunities include laboratories in hospitals, medical offices, industry and research facilities.
NOTE: Tuition listed is for in-state students. Out-of-state tuition is higher.
Tuition is set annually by the State Board of Community Colleges. Wake Tech charges various fees in addition to tuition, and individual programs also have specific costs associated with them.
