The Civil Engineering Technology curriculum provides training for technicians in the various aspects of land development. Civil Engineers are involved in Site and Feasibility Studies, Preliminary and Final Design calculations, As-Built Analysis, Construction Materials Testing, Construction Administration, and other areas associated with the land development process.
Course work includes drainage and erosion control, statics and strength of materials, construction materials testing, site design and site surveying, as well as CAD and GIS software suitable for performing common workplace objectives.
Graduates should qualify for jobs as CADD designers, construction materials testing technicians, construction administrators, and many others. Graduates also have transfer opportunities to pursue B.S. degrees at UNCC (Civil Engineering Technology), ECU (Industrial Technology), Old Dominion University (Civil Engineering Technology), or NC A&T (Geomatics).
