Frequently asked questions

Including all required non-accounting courses, it will take two years of full-time coursework, or longer if going part-time. College credits from other community colleges and accredited four-year schools are usually accepted, and you can place out of some courses.

There are some accounting curriculum courses and elective courses available online through Wake Tech. Likewise, some courses are taught in the evening. The list changes each semester, so you have to look at the current course schedules to get the most up-to-date information.

The Admissions Office has more detailed information, but the main requirement is a high school diploma.

You'll be given a thorough grounding in all the basic – and many not-so-basic – concepts in accounting, finance and business decision making.

Graduates from the Wake Tech Accounting program have gone on to run their own businesses, have become bookkeepers or accountants or have continued their education at various four-year schools.

Credits earned in this program may be transferred toward bachelor's degree programs in accounting or business at several four-year universities in North Carolina, as well as Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degrees at Wake Tech.
