Certificates
The Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum prepares graduates for employment as mechanical technicians. Typical assignments would include assisting in the design, development, testing, and repair of mechanical equipment. Emphasis is placed on the integration of theory and mechanical principles. The program also offers a Mechatronics track with an emphasis on courses related to the mechatronics field.
Coursework includes applied mechanics, manufacturing methods and processes, computer usage, computer-aided drafting, mathematics, physics and oral and written communications. With the Mechatronics track, courses also include analysis of electric circuits, fluid power in automation and mechatronics. The courses will stress critical thinking, planning and problem solving.
Graduates have transfer opportunities to pursue bachelor's degrees at UNC-Charlotte (Engineering Technology - Mechanical), East Carolina University (Industrial Technology) and North Carolina Wesleyan College. Wake Tech's Mechanical Engineering Technology AAS degree does not transfer to North Carolina State University.
