College Closed Monday Because of Winter Storm

Due to inclement weather, all Wake Tech campuses will be closed Monday, January 26, 2026. Students taking in-person classes should check with their instructors for more information. Online classes will continue as scheduled. Many Wake Tech services, including Admissions and Academic Advising, are available virtually at virtualsupport.waketech.edu. Wake Tech employees who can work remotely should do so.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

Technical Standards

Students enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program must meet the following standards:

  • Read prints, schematics, documents, charts and information on computer monitors
  • Communicate with co-workers
  • Wear hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes and other safety-related equipment as required by industry

Due to the diversity of jobs in this field, there may be additional requirements mandated by an individual company. But these will not necessarily be consistent with the profession as a whole.
