Degrees & Pathways
AAS - Associate in Applied Science

Wake Tech provides high-quality instruction in emergency medical care to prepare students as emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics to meet regional demand. Students learn through intensive, scenario-based instruction and the use of state-of-the-art simulation equipment to master the knowledge, hands-on skills and critical thinking needed by EMS responders to help those in need during an emergency.

Several career pathways are available:

  • Earn a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Science to obtain a paramedic credential
  • Complete college credits toward the Emergency Medical Science degree at the North Wake College and Career Academy
  • Obtain or renew EMT certification through Workforce Development EMT and EMT Refresher courses

Both the EMS Certificate program and Workforce Continuing Education EMT courses can count as credit toward completion of the AAS degree.
