I am a Wake Tech student planning to transfer to NCSU with an Associate in Science degree. I plan to major in Sports Administration and be certified in Education. Wake Tech feels so welcoming, especially once you attend New Student Orientation. I found that after going through orientation, I felt more comfortable attending Wake Tech and it made my transition easier. I want to be able to help students get excited about Wake Tech and to help them feel comfortable in their transition into college, just like the orientation leaders did for me! I want to show the same passion that my orientation leaders showed me that made me ready and excited for Wake Tech!

I am currently in my second and final year of Wake Tech’s College Transfer program with hopes of attending UNCG and becoming a Counseling Psychologist. I was born in Raleigh and attending Wake Technical Community College has allowed me to stay close to my friends and family while I earn my degree. As an Orientation Leader, I look forward to meeting new students, assisting them with their transition into Wake Tech, and sharing advice and my own student experience, as well as working to develop my public speaking skills.

I am currently enrolled in Wake Tech’s College Transfer program with hopes of transferring to NCSU and majoring in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. I have been a student for about two years and belong to three honors societies, and have had the privilege of working for New Student Orientation for over a year. Working in Orientation has been one of my favorite experiences at Wake Technical Community College, allowing me to learn leadership, confidence, and public speaking skills.

I am a student in Wake Tech's College Transfer program. I was originally working towards getting my Associate in Science degree, but things have changed. My goal hasn't changed but my path toward that goal has changed a bit. I am still working towards getting into Nursing School at UNC-Chapel Hill. That's what being an adaptable student is all about! Even though things don't always go as planned, you will always find an alternate route, and Wake Tech has many resources to help you do so. I have had the pleasure of being an Orientation Leader for one year now, and I have learned so much in that time. I look forward to sharing my experiences with new students so they can know what to expect.

I am enrolled in Wake Tech’s College Transfer program with hopes of one day becoming a civil engineer and venturing into structural engineering. I am an international student from Zimbabwe and have been in the United States and at Wake Tech for the past two years. During that time, I have had great delight being actively involved in Cru, a campus Bible study organization. Despite being so far away from home, I have felt nothing but welcome here because of the caring, friendly, and helpful atmosphere at Wake Tech. As an Orientation Leader, I am looking forward to meeting new students, making them feel welcome, and helping them navigate college life by ensuring that they have all the tools necessary for success.

I’m from Peru, and my first major is Dental Hygiene and my second major is Surgical Technology. My plan is to transfer to UNC Chapel Hill to major in Dentistry. I like working with people, meeting new challenges, and improving myself. As a New Student Orientation leader, l like sharing information about all aspects of the college. It’s great to be able to guide students who are so eager and passionate about making a difference in the world.
Daniel Dement I am currently enrolled in Wake Tech's College Transfer program with hopes of one day becoming an IT Consultant. I was born and raised in North Carolina and have been a student here for one year. Wake Tech is a large college, but really has the feel of a small community with students and staff caring for each other. As an Orientation Leader, I look forward to helping new students as well as sharing my own experiences with them.

I am so happy to work in a job that allows me to help new students feel welcome and prepared to achieve their very best here at Wake Tech!  I know that coming to a new college can be a bit overwhelming at first, and that is why New Student Orientation is an important step in being ready to start on the first day of class.  We have a great team of student Orientation Leaders, who are ready to share a wealth of information from their own experiences on campus.  So, come see us!

I am the Program Specialist for New Student Orientation at Wake Tech. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2011 with an M.A. in School Counseling. Prior to joining the Orientation team, I worked as a school counselor in the Wake County Public School System. Given my background in student services, I have a passion for empowering students to achieve their academic and personal goals. I'm excited to work in New Student Orientation because it is such an important resource for all new students, especially first-time college students. I look forward to welcoming students and helping them prepare for success at Wake Tech!

Welcome to Wake Tech and the start of a brand new life!  From this point forward, many opportunities will become available to you.  You probably already know that Wake Tech offers over 180 majors in fields like simulation and game development, business administration, automotive systems technology, radiography or the arts and sciences. We´ll help you prepare for a career after you graduate or help you to transfer to a four-year institution. The opportunities are endless!

Now, how can you make sure that you get started on the right track toward your goals? You need to attend orientation for new students! Research has shown that students who attend orientation before enrolling succeed at a higher rate than those who do not. And who doesn´t want to increase their chances for success?!

At orientation, you will be given lots of information in a fun and engaging format (and I hear that there are some pretty good giveaways!). You´ll get to talk with some of the staff and get those last-minute questions answered. You can wander around the campus, pay your tuition, get your ID made, etc. It's all about YOU at this point and helping you become a part of our family! We´re pleased that you´ve chosen Wake Tech and we look forward to seeing you at orientation!
