I am a Wake Tech student planning to transfer to NCSU with an Associate in Science degree. I plan to major in Sports Administration and be certified in Education. Wake Tech feels so welcoming, especially once you attend New Student Orientation. I found that after going through orientation, I felt more comfortable attending Wake Tech and it made my transition easier. I want to be able to help students get excited about Wake Tech and to help them feel comfortable in their transition into college, just like the orientation leaders did for me! I want to show the same passion that my orientation leaders showed me that made me ready and excited for Wake Tech!

I am currently enrolled in Wake Tech's College Transfer program with hopes of one day becoming an IT Consultant. I was born and raised in North Carolina and have been a student here for one year. Wake Tech is a large college, but really has the feel of a small community with students and staff caring for each other. As an Orientation Leader, I look forward to helping new students as well as sharing my own experiences with them.

I am enrolled in Wake Tech's Associate in Arts (AA) degree program, which is designed for students who want to transfer to a university to pursue a four-year degree. I joined the New Student Orientation team as an orientation leader in June 2018. While attending Wake Tech, I have taken in-person courses at NC State University through the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (CRC) cross-registration plan. This is a free and easy option for full-time students that really enhances the college experience! In addition, I have been accepted in the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program, or C-STEP, which enables more community college students to transfer to and graduate from UNC at Chapel Hill. I plan to graduate from Wake Tech in Spring 2019.

I’m from Peru, and my first major is Dental Hygiene and my second major is Surgical Technology. My plan is to transfer to UNC Chapel Hill to major in Dentistry. I like working with people, meeting new challenges, and improving myself. As a New Student Orientation leader, l like sharing information about all aspects of the college. It’s great to be able to guide students who are so eager and passionate about making a difference in the world.

I am a transfer student hoping to attend UNC-Chapel Hill to study international business. I would like to go to graduate school and attain a position that allows me the freedom to travel. Since I've been enrolled at Wake Tech, I've been able to take all of my classes online. As an online student, I have learned a great deal about myself and how I learn. All of my professors have been incredibly engaging and I have had the freedom to learn at my own pace without feeling overwhelmed. I look forward to my positions this semester as Student Government Senator Chair, Student Orientation Leader, Member of the Collaborative Council and an online student at Wake Tech!

I am a student at Wake Tech's College Transfer program. I was originally working towards getting my Associate in Science degree, but things have changed. My goal hasn't changed but my path toward that goal has changed a bit. I am still working towards getting into Nursing School at UNC-Chapel Hill. That's what being an adaptable student is all about! Even though things don't always go as planned, you will always find an alternate route, and Wake Tech has many resources to help you do so. I have had the pleasure of being an Orientation Leader for one year now, and I have learned so much in that time. I look forward to sharing my experiences with new students so they can know what to expect.

I am enrolled in Wake Tech’s transfer program. I am at the end of my first year at Wake Tech. I have high hopes to transfer to NCSU to study Environmental Science. I am an Orientation Leader because I want to give students the opportunity to get involved here at Wake Tech. Our students have so many opportunities that they may not even be aware of! My goal is to help these students achieve their goals and move on to their next step in life successfully.

Orientation Staff

Wesley Clifton

I am so happy to work in a job that allows me to help new students feel welcome and prepared to achieve their very best here at Wake Tech!  I know that coming to a new college can be a bit overwhelming at first, and that is why New Student Orientation is an important step in being ready to start on the first day of class.  We have a great team of student Orientation Leaders, who are ready to share a wealth of information from their own experiences on campus.  So, come see us!

I am the Program Specialist for New Student Orientation at Wake Tech. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2011 with an M.A. in School Counseling. Prior to joining the Orientation team, I worked as a school counselor in the Wake County Public School System. Given my background in student services, I have a passion for empowering students to achieve their academic and personal goals. I'm excited to work in New Student Orientation because it is such an important resource for all new students, especially first-time college students. I look forward to welcoming students and helping them prepare for success at Wake Tech!

Welcome to Wake Tech and the start of a brand new life!  From this point forward, many opportunities will become available to you.  You probably already know that Wake Tech offers over 180 majors in fields like simulation and game development, business administration, automotive systems technology, radiography or the arts and sciences. We´ll help you prepare for a career after you graduate or help you to transfer to a four-year institution. The opportunities are endless!

Now, how can you make sure that you get started on the right track toward your goals? You need to attend orientation for new students! Research has shown that students who attend orientation before enrolling succeed at a higher rate than those who do not. And who doesn´t want to increase their chances for success?!

At orientation, you will be given lots of information in a fun and engaging format (and I hear that there are some pretty good giveaways!). You´ll get to talk with some of the staff and get those last-minute questions answered. You can wander around the campus, pay your tuition, get your ID made, etc. It's all about YOU at this point and helping you become a part of our family! We´re pleased that you´ve chosen Wake Tech and we look forward to seeing you at orientation!
