Wake Tech is closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for mini-mester courses. All classes will resume and offices will reopen Tuesday morning.
With nearly 100 fully online programs, Wake Tech consistently ranks at the top for online instruction. It has been named the No. 1 online community college in the U.S. by several sources and is among Newsweek magazine's Top 250 online colleges and universities in 2025.
Wake Tech's goal is to provide superior online learning in an environment that is as accessible as possible to a diverse learning community. Each faculty and staff member is committed to empowering students and facilitating success.
An appropriately created and delivered virtual course takes full advantage of best practices for creative engagement, group interaction and instructor feedback. Studies have shown that, in many cases, virtual learning experiences meet or exceed expectations.
As beneficial as the virtual classroom can be, it is not an ideal environment for everyone. New students must complete the eLearning Intro before enrolling in an online course. Current students who have not successfully completed an online course at Wake Tech must also complete the eLearning Intro before registering for another online course.
"Online courses are very convenient. I can study when and where I want, and I come to campus if I need to get out of the house."
