Wells Fargo has announced a $250,000 donation to the Wake Tech Foundation’s major gifts campaign, called “The Ripple Effect.” The generous gift will fund the Wake Tech/Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship, established in 2010 to offer resources for small business owners and would-be entrepreneurs.

“Be passionate about what you do!” That’s the advice from Patty Briguglio, founder and CEO of MMI Public Relations, a full-service PR firm headquartered in Cary. Briguglio shared secrets of her success at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh today at a special event sponsored by the Wake Tech/Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship.

Wake Tech Community College is pleased to announce that grant funding awards in 2011-12 totaled more than $3.6 million – an increase of 43% over the previous fiscal year. Educational institutions often rely on grant awards to expand programs and services beyond what regular operating budgets allow. 

The Wake Technical Community College Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome a new member. Edward D. Paradise, appointed by Governor Bev Perdue, was sworn in by NC Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby on Tuesday, August 21, as the newest trustee on Wake Tech’s 12-member board.

With just two months until the 2012 election, political hype is mounting – and it can be overwhelming to new voters. TurboVote, a new Web-based service, is aimed at making the voting process as easy as using Netflix. Wake Tech is partnering with TurboVote to engage voters who are technology-savvy and who expect instant access to the latest information.

The Wake Tech Foundation welcomes local business leaders Nathan Becker, Joan P.H. Myers and Kent Thompson to its board of directors. The new members were selected for their dedication and commitment to the mission of the college.

Wake Technical Community College has been selected by the Wake County Board of Elections to host two early voting sites for the upcoming November 6 general election. The sites will be located on Wake Tech’s Main and Northern Wake Campuses. Citizens can register and vote at the same time.

Drivers can now “plug in” and charge the batteries on their electric vehicles on the Main Campus at Wake Tech Community College. Two charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles, or PEVs, have been installed on the campus by Progress Energy Carolinas as part of a research project focused on commercial charging stations.

Wake Tech graduates with associate’s degrees in Business Administration or Criminal Justice Technology have a new avenue for pursuing four-year degrees. A new partnership with Saint Augustine’s University guarantees admission for Wake Tech AAS (Associate in Applied Science) graduates seeking a BS in Business Administration or Criminal Justice.
