This class will help you explore the role of a medical assistant through a look at the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to secure employment. You will also learn about the various roles and settings in which a medical assistant would find employment. The class will focus on the development of a plan to obtain the necessary medical, technical, and soft skills for entry into the field.
Course Objectives
  1. have explored the role of a medical assistant in a variety of settings.
  2. have reviewed employability skills needed to gain entry in the field.
  3. have identified job search strategies effective for gaining employment as a medical assistant.
  4. have explored college-readiness skills needed to obtain the medical and technical skills to work in the field.

  1. Module 1 - Defining the role of a medical assistant
  2. Module 2 - Exploring the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for medical assisting
  3. Module 3 - Developing soft skills needed for medical assistants
  4. Module 4 - Setting goals and developing a plan to secure employment as a medical assistant
