The Corrections/Detention Services concentration prepares students, as well as practitioners in corrections or detention, to be future leaders in jails, prisons and community corrections centers. Sworn corrections and detention officers can receive up to nine semester credit hours toward a degree.
The Public Safety Administration curriculum, in general, is designed to provide students and the technical, managerial and administrative knowledge and skills needed to enter or advance in various public safety and government organizations.

Employment opportunities exist with fire or police departments, emergency management organizations, governmental agencies, industrial firms, correctional facilities, private industries, insurance organizations, educational organizations and security and protective organizations, as well as through self-employment opportunities.
