Testing Services

Wake Tech offers testing services to meet the various needs of incoming and current students. In addition, Wake Tech offers specific licensure and certification exams to certain non-Wake Tech students.

• Placement testing
  Students who have graduated from a U.S. high school are exempt from placement testing and will be placed into courses upon receipt of their high school transcripts. Applicants who have an unweighted GPA of less than 2.8 may opt to take the placement test.
  
  GED and Adult High School applicants are exempt from placement testing and will be admitted and placed into courses upon receipt of their transcript. Placement will be based on high school equivalency scores for applicants whose test scores are dated January 2014 or later. Applicants who do not meet the criteria of 145 in all subject areas on the GED or 15 in all subject areas (4 on the essay) of the HiSET will be admitted and given the option to take the placement test or begin in transition courses.
  
  Students who completed high school outside the U.S. and have no other applicable placement measures should complete an English as a Foreign Language placement test.

• College & Career Readiness testing
  The Beltline Education Center offers GED^® and HiSET^® tests for students 16½ or older to earn a high school credential. For more information, email Melissa Hinkle at [email protected]
  
  TABE 11/12 tests for Adult Basic Education students and CLAS-E assessments for English as a Second Language students are offered to place adult learners in appropriate courses and determine their mastery of skills after attending an Advising information session.

• IT and licensure testing
  The Beltline Education Center also offers a range of IT certification and professional licensure exams through Pearson VUE^®, from CompTIA and Cisco to Foundations of Nursing Practice and APICS. For more information, email Melissa Hinkle at [email protected].
  
  Pearson VUE^® testing also is available on the RTP Campus. For more information about testing on that campus, email Robin Russell at [email protected].
   
• e-Learning Testing Centers
  The eLTCs provide proctoring services for online instructors who have registered at the beginning of a semester for their exams to be proctored by a center. The centers provide both paper- and computer-based testing and are located on Southern Wake, Scott Northern Wake, Perry Health Sciences, RTP and Western Wake campuses.

• CNA testing
  Students who have successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide I course will be eligible to schedule their state written and skills exam through Credentia. Students must visit the Credentia website, create an account and provide the necessary proof of eligibility to take the state test and schedule the exam.   Credentia offers testing dates at Scott Northern Wake Campus on certain Fridays and Saturdays. Scheduled candidates should check-in for their Nurse Aide skills state test in Room 120 of Building E as early as 7:30 a.m.
