Blackboard is Wake Tech's online learning platform, providing access to course materials, assignments, discussions, grades and instructional resources. Whether you are enrolled in an online, hybrid or web-enhanced course, Blackboard helps you stay connected with your coursework and instructors throughout the term.
Online courses are delivered primarily through Blackboard and allow students to complete coursework remotely. Some courses may include required on-campus testing. Review course schedules in Self-Service for specific course requirements. Online courses are available in Blackboard beginning on the first day of the term.
Hybrid courses combine in-person class meetings with online learning activities in Blackboard. Review course schedules in Self-Service for meeting days, times and locations.
NOTE: New students must complete the eLearning Intro before enrolling in an online course.
Before your course begins
Make sure you can access your Wake Tech account and Blackboard
Complete the eLearning Intro if you are required to do so before registering for online courses
Use a supported web browser, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari
Verify that you have reliable internet access and access to a computer capable of completing course activities and assessments
Review your course schedule in Self-Service for any required on-campus meetings or virtual meetings associated with online or hybrid courses
On the first day of class
When your course becomes available in Blackboard:
Review any course announcements
Locate and read the course syllabus
Review the course schedule and important due dates
Determine how attendance and participation are tracked in the course
Familiarize yourself with the course navigation and technology requirements
