Scholars of Global Distinction is a partnership between community colleges in North Carolina, including Wake Tech, and UNC World View, a UNC-Chapel Hill outreach program. A student who meets requirements receives a "Graduated with Global Distinction" notation on his or her transcript, a certificate from UNC Worldview and cords to wear at graduation.
Program requirements
Students who earn the notation should be able to investigate the world beyond their immediate environment, framing and researching significant problems and finding ways to create positive change. They also should be able to recognize and articulate their own and others' perspectives and communicate ideas effectively with diverse audiences.
The Scholars of Global Distinction program has no application deadline or minimum GPA requirement. Students are accepted based on their ability to complete the program requirements successfully. Applications reviewed monthly, and students are accepted year-round. However, students should apply as early in their Wake Tech degree as possible to ensure there is ample time to complete the requirements.
